Description
In 1877 Monet set up his easel inside the Gare Saint-Lazare, the great Paris terminus, to paint the very machinery of modern life. Locomotives breathe clouds of steam beneath the vast glass-and-iron roof, and the light seems to dissolve into vapour and smoke. Part of his celebrated series on the station, this canvas trades pastoral calm for the energy of the industrial city, rendered in silvery blues and smoky greys.
Our reproduction is hand-painted in oils to order by a skilled studio artist, built in layers on artist-grade cotton canvas to capture the drifting steam and shifting light. Select your size and framing on this page; each piece is made to order and ships free anywhere in the world.
