Description
Garden at Sainte-Adresse: Flags Above the Terrace
Four figures occupy a flower-lined terrace overlooking the Channel. Two sit in wicker chairs in the foreground; a standing pair face each other near the railing. A pale parasol hides much of the seated woman’s head, while the man beside her wears a light hat.
Red and yellow flowers lead towards the blue water. Two tall flagpoles cross the horizon, with the French tricolour on the right. Sailing boats and steamships spread across the sea, beyond the low garden fence.
Monet painted this view at Sainte-Adresse, near Le Havre, in 1867. The Met notes how the elevated viewpoint divides terrace, sea and sky into broad horizontal bands. The original oil on canvas is in The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
Choose an Oil Painting or a Canvas Print
The main edition is a hand-painted oil reproduction on canvas, made to order by a studio artist. A canvas art print is also offered, with the painted marks reproduced in ink rather than raised paint. Both follow the same landscape composition.
Landscape Sizes and Presentation
The original-size reference is one option among the available sizes, with larger reproductions also offered. All keep the landscape proportions. Select a size and an available presentation above: rolled canvas, stretched canvas, or a thin or thick frame. Check the width of the terrace scene against your wall space before ordering.
