Description
On the Italian Riviera in 1884, Monet was dazzled by the light of Bordighera, and here he paints its palm trees swaying against an intense Mediterranean blue. The fronds twist and dance in vivid greens, the vegetation lush and almost tropical, the sky and distant sea saturated with a colour he found thrilling and difficult in equal measure. It is a picture of pure southern exuberance, far from the cool tones of his Normandy coast.
Our reproduction is hand-painted in oils to order by a skilled studio artist, built in layers on artist-grade cotton canvas to hold the vivid colour and dancing light. Choose your size and framing on this page. Every piece is made to order and ships free worldwide.
