Description
At Étretat the fishermen launched their boats straight from the shingle into the Channel swell, and Monet painted that daily departure in 1885. Hulls slide toward the water, figures lean into their work, and the sea rolls in cool, silvery waves beneath a soft northern sky. The handling is vigorous and economical, every stroke serving the movement of boats, people and tide along this dramatic Normandy shore.
Our version is hand-painted in oils to order by a trained studio artist, worked on artist-grade cotton canvas to echo Monet’s energetic brushwork and restrained coastal palette. Select your size and framing on this page. Each commission is created just for you and ships free worldwide.
