Description
Sainte-Adresse, near Le Havre, was the shore of Monet’s boyhood summers, and he returned to it in 1867 to paint this working beach under a wide, changeable sky. Fishing boats and figures dot the shingle, the sea stretches away in bands of grey-green, and the whole scene is caught with a fresh, unsentimental honesty. It is a picture about weather and place, painted by an artist who knew this coast in his bones.
Our reproduction is hand-painted in oils to order by a skilled studio artist, built in patient layers on artist-grade cotton canvas to hold the salt light of the Normandy shore. Choose your size and framing on this page. Every piece is made to order and ships free worldwide.
